The draw for next week’s Champions of Champions has been revealed – and some cracking games have been announced.
The popular invitational tournament, now in its fifth year, wiil feature all the winners of major ranking events and invitational events from the past twelve months or so.
Big names include the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, Judd Trump and John Higgins – two of which have won the event before.
The winner of the tournament will collect a cheque for £100,000 making it one most of most luxurious events in the season calendar. It all starts on Monday (November 6) and live coverage of every match will be shown on ITV4.
A total of 16 players are involved and have been split into four groups of four. Each group consists of two ‘semi-final’ matches in the afternoon and then the two winners will face each other in the Group Final in the evening.
The winner of the group final will then advance to the proper semi-finals final taking place on Friday and Saturday. The two winners of the semi-final will then play for the £100,000 and the trophy in Sunday’s grand final which will be a race to ten frames played over two sessions.
So who is playing who?
Exciting first round matches see world number one Mark Selby take on the dangerous and talented Liang Wenbo next Wednesday while, in the same group, Judd Trump faces a tough battle against one of this season’s most improved players and winner of the China Championship – Luca Brecel.
Ronnie O’Sullivan awaits to find out his first opponent – which will be the winner of the International Championship on Sunday. However, if Selby – who is already drawn in Group 3 – wins it then O’Sullivan will face Neil Robertson.
The winner of that potential tie will then face either John Higgins or Anthony McGill who will clash in the all Scottish tie on Thursday.
