Steve Davis makes snooker’s first official 147

Watch the moment when Steve Davis made snooker history in 1982 when he became the first player to make a 147 at a professional tournament.

Davis achieved the feat in the Lada Classic quarter-final tie against John Spencer. However he went on to lose the final of the event – suffering a 9-8 defeat to Terry Griffiths.

As of August 2017 there have been more than 130 maximum breaks in professional snooker. Despite winning six World Championships, this was the only time Davis recorded a 147 in his professional career.
