A video has gone viral showing former world champion Peter Ebdon chucking his cue to the floor in anger during his quarter-final defeat in the Northern Ireland Open.
The bizarre footage has been shared on social media since Friday evening by fellow players, writers of the game and fans and has been viewed thousands of times.
It show Ebdon dropping his cue to the floor after appearing to be distracted while playing a shot midway through his match against Eden Sharav.
Despite leading 4-1 at one stage, Ebdon failed to get over the winning line as Sharav won four frames on the bounce to earn a place in the semi-finals.
The incident was mentioned as part of Eurosport’s live coverage of the tournament and happened on the next table where Ronnie O’Sullivan was playing David Gilbert.
Speaking after beating Gilbert 5-2, O’Sullivan said he recalled seeing Ebdon bitterly angry.
He said: Ebdon is just starting at this geezer. It was a beauty stare. If looks could kill the geezer would have been beheaded.
“Then he’s threw the cue in pure disgust and then I started to get scared in case I was moving.”
