A regular visitor to the Crucible Theatre and a big time snooker fan has announced he is getting married at the famous venue.

Brian Wright has been seen over several years watching the action at the famous arena while wearing old shirts worn by his favourite football team Coventry City.

Six years ago he famously proposed to his partner during snooker’s biggest tournament  which drew a big cheer from the Crucible crowd.

And Mr Wright, who is has been well known in previous years for wearing a Coventry City shirt while watching the snooker, has announced that the pair will get married at the Crucible in August next year.

Mr Wright tweeted: “On the sixth anniversary of our engagement, I am pleased to announce that my beautiful fiancee and I have set a wedding date; 25th August 2019. And where else would it be but at the @cruciblethreatre.

The Old Green Baize reported prior to this year’s World Championship how Mr Wright was left fuming after World Snooker announced that football shirts would be banned during the tournament.

Mr Wright said the announcement was a disgrace when he spoke to The Sun newspaper.

Instead he has been seen wearing light blue shirts and polo shirts to show his support for his favourite football team Coventry City.

But it might be a good idea to wear a suit when the big day comes Brian!
