The Honk Kong star has been out of the action since the start of 2018 after undergoing laser eye surgery.
But today on social media Fu announced he would make his comeback at the home of snooker – Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre – when the World Championship gets underway later this month.
Due to his high ranking, Fu is guaranteed a place in the opening round of the World Championship meaning he will take on one of the 16 qualifiers starting from Saturday, April 21.
But despite having surgery Fu said there were no signs yet his eyesight had improved.
On his social media channels he said: “Eyes are not any better or worse, anyway l’ve decided to play in this year’s World Championship this month!
“The support l got from everyone in the last few months was amazing, thank you all so much.”
He then used the following hashtags: #trymybest #giveitago #wishmeluck.
