The Welshman secured his third major title of his best season ever as a professional after beating Stuart Bingham 10-8 in a tense final.

Day had already lifted the Riga Masters and Gibraltar Open trophies – his first two major ranking titles in a career spanning more than 20 years.

And now Day has captured snooker’s newest invitational event and goes home with £50,000 Euros to his name. As it is an invitational event, the money will not count towards his world ranking position.

But another trophy to his name will give Day even more confidence as he bids to secure an automatic spot in next month’s World Championship in the weeks to come.
