Shaun Murphy pulls out of new Romanian Masters taking place next week

Shaun Murphy has withdrawn from next week’s Romanian Masters, it has been announced.

The former world champion will sit out the brand new tournament which gets underway next Wednesday (March 14) and takes place for five days.

The tournament will see 16 of the world’s best players compete for a top prize of 50,000 Euros. News of the tournament was announced last month.

Murphy, who won the World Championship in 2005, has been replaced by Mark King who won the 2016 Northern Ireland Open.King’s first round match is a clash against Stephen Maguire.

The amended draw is as follows:

Mark Selby vs Liang Wenbo

Stuart Bingham vs Neil Robertson

Mark Williams vs Ali Carter

Mark King vs Stephen Maguire

John Higgins vs Anthony McGill

Barry Hawkins vs Ryan Day

Mark Allen vs Kyren Wilson

Judd Trump vs Luca Brecel
