May be Dennis Taylor needs to wear his famous big glasses again

The 1985 world champion committed the ultimate error as Master of Ceremonies today at London’s Alexandra Palace when he gave Mark Allen the wrong name when introducing him onto the stage.

By mistake, Taylor called Allen Mark Williams, to the laughter of hundreds watching the match. Williams had earlier beaten Mark Selby 6-5 in a thrilling opening tie.

As Allen enters the stage he lets Taylor know of his mistake, grabbing his microphone in the process. The snooker legend then corrects himself as he gets his name right second time round.

The incident happened before the start of today’s second Masters first round match between Allen and China Championship winner Luca Brecel.
