How you can own six-times world champion Steve Davis’ worn waistcoat from his final match

Snooker fans are being given the chance to play against six-times world champion Steve Davis as well as the opportunity to own his last worn waistcoat as a professional player.

It’s a simple case of the highest bidder wins and people can bid simply by commenting on a Facebook page.

Davis retired from snooker altogether in April 2016 after playing professionally for 38 years. During that time he won snooker’s prestigious World Championship trophy six-times making him one of the sport’s most successful players in history.

According to Cuetracker.net the last game Davis played in the professional circuit was a World Championship qualifier against Fergal O’Brien which he lost 10-4. He officially dropped from the main tour two years before that when he lost a World Championship qualifier to Craig Steadman in 2014.

But due to his legendary status in the game he was still allowed to compete in some of the sport’s biggest events prior to his retirement.

When announcing his retirement at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield where he lifted his six world titles, Davis said his last match against O’Brien was a tribute to his father Bill who passed away earlier that year. He revealed it was the only match he played without his father in his life.

The auctions will take place this weekend, ending on Tuesday afternoon.

It has been organised by two piece band Cleft who wrote on Facebook: “So this weekend I’ll be starting off my auctions, starting with the prog/experimental superstar DJ (I believe he played a bit of snooker too) Steve Davis!!!

“Steve will be giving away the opportunity to test out your snooker skills against him (and probably learn a thing or two) at Romford Snooker centre! He’s been world snooker champion 6 times, so I reckon he’s pretty good…

“Also up for grabs, will be the last waistcoat worn by Steve in his last competitive snooker match. It’ll come with a signed certificate of authentication by Mr Davis himself. Nice!

“All of these auctions will be happening via the Cleft Facebook page, with people that want to bid simply commenting on images of the items you could win with your bid. Highest bidder, wins! The auctions will run through the weekend and terminate at 12.00 midday (GMT) on Tuesday.”
