The players so far through to face ‘Judgement Day’ qualifying drama

A busy night of action is set to get underway this as players from around the globe bid to make it a step closer to reaching this year’s World Championship.

A total of 13 matches will come to a conclusion tonight (Monday) with the winners through to the final qualifying round of the biggest event in the snooker calendar.

So far 19 players have booked their players in the final qualifying round, already knowing they are just one more win away from booking their places in the opening round of the World Championship at Sheffield’s famous Crucible Theatre.

The 16 remaining qualifying matches will get underway on Tuesday before the winners are decided on Wednesday – or what will be better known as “Judgment Day”.

Players so far through to the third and final round include – Stuart Carrington, Tom Ford, Li Hang, Xiao Guodong, Mark King, Zhou Yuelong, Jamie Jones, David Gilbert, Akani Songsermsawad, Dominic Dale, Gary Wilson, Michael White, Hammad Miah, Michael Holt, Peter Ebdon, Yan Bingtao, Alexander Ursenbacher, Yu Delu and Martin Gould.

The likes of former world champions Mark Williams, Graeme Dott and Ken Doherty will be hoping to join them by the end of tonight.

Defeat for 1997 World Championship winner Doherty will see him relegated off the main snooker tour – possibly ending a playing career spanning 27 years.

On Friday six times World Championship runner up Jimmy White suffered relegation from the main tour  after losing his first qualifying round to Jack Lisowski.
