The Chinese number one star will face Mark Selby in Sunday’s best-of-19 final after he beat Stephen Maguire 6-3 in the semi-finals.
The £85,000 encounter will be the first time the players have met since Selby won snooker’s biggest match in the calendar 18-14 at the Crucible Theatre just four months ago.
Both players will also be competing to become the first ever two-time champion of the Shanghai Masters tournament in its ten-year history.
Earlier in the day, Selby produced a stunning comeback to beat Stuart Bingham in an eleven-frame thriller.
