A comfortable win looked on the cards for Trump after he took a deserved 4-1 lead against Liang Wenbo before a remarkable turnaround from his opponent sent him packing.

The Chinese number two star hit back winning the next five frames as Trump’s game transformed from brilliant to what he described on Twitter as ’embarrassing’.

Trump’s game had gone from potting everything to missing everything within the space of a few frames. His collapse was even more remarkable given he won the first three frames without Wenbo scoring a single point.

After the match the Bristol star said the end of the last 32 match was one of the worst he felt in his playing career.

He then tweeted to his thousands of followers: “Sorry for that performance. Feel like giving up after that!! Embarrassing!”

Elsewhere, there was heartbreak for Thailand’s talented star Thepchaiya Un-Nooh who missed the final black to deny himself a 147 maximum break in his match against Neil Robertson.

Trailing the Australian 4-1, Un-Nooh made a brilliant break of 140 including a brilliant final red but it all ended in disappointment as he missed a routine final black. The miss could have cost him a winning prize of £44,000.

Un-Nooh went on to lose the match 6-2 to the in form Robertson who is looking for more silverware after winning the Champion of Champions last month.

The 30-year-old joins Ken Doherty and Mark Selby to have missed the final black to deny them a memorable maximum break.
