Day of little action sees second round action draw to a close

crucible templateJUDD Trump, Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan wasted little time as they secured their place in the last eight of the World Championship.

Trump just needed five frames to book his place in the quarter-finals after completing a 13-8 win over Marco Fu. The Bristol star will face Ding Junhui in a repeat of the thrilling semi-final the pair played out at the Crucible in 2011 which Trump won 17-15.

Murphy only needed two frames to seal the deal in a convincing 13-5 win over Joe Perry. Murphy, who won this season’s Masters event, will take on rising star Anthony McGill for a place in the semi-finals.

Neil Robertson sealed a quarter-final tie with Barry Hawkins in perfect style as a break of 145 – the highest of the tournament – wrapped up a 13-5 win over Ali Carter.

And O’Sullivan remained on course to reach his fourth World Championship in a row after beating Matthew Stevens by the same scoreline.

The day saw just nine frames played with all of the remaining completed before 8pm.
