RONNIE O’Sullivan is to make a major announcement on his future career plans next week.
The Rocket, who was crowned the winner of the World Championship last season, announced in November last year he would miss the remainder of the season so he could take a break away from the game due to personal issues.
Four times world champion O’Sullivan will make his announcement at a press conference in London on Tuesday. It is expected he will reveal whether or not he will play in the upcoming World Championship starting in April after much speculation suggesting he will make a dramatic return in a bid to win snooker’s biggest prize for a fifth time.
O’Sullivan has until the end of the month to decide whether he not he wishes to defend his crown at the Crucible Theatre. Winning the title last year means he does have to qualify for the competition and will go into it as the top seed – should he opt to play.
The Essex star has only played in one competitive match all season, a defeat to Simon Bedford in a PTC event, and has slid down to 24th position in the latest world rankings list after ending last season in ninth place.
