Bond wows Derby youngsters with maximum break

YOUNG snooker enthusiasts in Derby were given a lesson to remember when a former world championship finalist compiled a stunning maximum 147 break in front of their very eyes.

World number 45 and this month’s World Senior Championship winner Nigel Bond was the special guest at the Jaxx Q Club in Belper, Derby on Saturday (November 10) as the venue held its first ever snooker exhibition event.

And Bond gave the Derby Junior Snooker Club youngsters a fantastic insight into the game by hitting breaks of 112, 115, 121, the brilliant maximum break as well as several breaks over 50.

“It’s nice to make a 147 again in an exhibition and all maximum breaks are special for the players and the audience” Bond said after the event.

Junior club founder Roger Stevenson-Revill added :”We are so grateful to Nigel for once again showing his support to Derby junior snooker club.

“Our second club In Belper is already attracting lots of interest from young people interested in cues sports and we look forward to developing the club along side our Derby club to give boys and girls the chance to play snooker, billiards and other cue sports.

“Through the generosity of players like Nigel, we hope that there will be many more chances for our juniors to meet and play the world’s best players.”
