PartyPoker Premier League – Event 9
Doncaster

Group A: Shaun Murphy 5-1 Mark Selby
Group B: Judd Trump 5-1 Mark Allen

SNOOKER’s new world number one Judd Trump cruised into the semi-finals of the PartyPoker.com Premier League with a crushing win over Mark Allen.

Trump, who only five days ago lifted the International Championship, was again in top form in Doncaster as he sailed through to the last four with a 5-1 victory and joined Stuart Bingham and John Higgins to take part in the Premier League finals in a fortnight’s time.

Prior to the match the pair were level in all departments including points and the number of frames won so far in the competition. This meant the first player to get to three frames on the night would go through to the semi-finals in a fortnight’s time.

And it was Trump who drew first blood winning the first frame after three significant visits to the table. But Allen drew level in the second frame thanks to a break of 60.

A classy 76 break from Trump put him back ahead before he sealed his place in the last four winning the fourth frame with a top break of 47. A confident Trump then took the final two frames to cruise to a 5-1 win

Meanwhile the night’s first match was kind of a dead-rubber affair between Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy.

With both players already out of the running for Premier League glory, the pair’s last match in the competition gave them the chance to play with no pressure and entertain the Doncaster crowd.

And it was Murphy who thrilled the spectators with a stunning performance cruising to a 5-1 win with top breaks of 116, 86 and 81.

The thumping defeat for Selby ended a disastrous Premier League campaign as far he was concerned finishing bottom of Group A with no points on the board.

The Premier League resumes next Thursday (November 15) in Durham when Neil Robertson will battle it out against Ding Junhui for the last semi-final place. The other match sees John Higgins take on Peter Ebdon.
