Spick given Australian chance

THE LAST 24 hours have been something of  a rollercoaster for former professional Lee Spick.

Last night The Old Green Baize reported the 32-year-old was retiring from the game after failing to return to the professional circuit with his Q School Event 3 fourth round defeat to Fraser Patrick last month.

But less than 24 hours after telling us he was ready to quit, World Snooker has today given him a rare chance to qualify for the Australian Open ranking event which begins next week.

Spick’s selection comes after some of the top names in the sport have opted to pull out of the tournament Down-Under and because the Mansfield star managed to win a certain a number of frames during the three Q School events held in May – meaning World Snooker gave him the call.
